Rinse the sponge in some warm water wring out the excess and place a dollop of liquid soap on it.
Clean grease off tumbled marble backsplash.
Dry the backsplash.
Ensure that it is completely dry before continuing.
This removes dust as well as any splatters or dirt you may not have noticed keeping them from becoming more difficult to remove later on.
If your backsplash tiles have a lot of grease on them reach for the mildly abrasive baking soda in your cupboard.
Use the soapy sponge on the greasy backsplash.
Add 2 cups of water to a spray bottle along with 2 squirts of liquid dish detergent.
Rub the mixture over the greasy spots and wait at least 10 minutes.
Using a clean lint free cloth buff the surface of the tumbled tile to remove any excess sealer not absorbed by the marble.
Dust your tumbled marble backsplash regularly.
Step 2 add 1 2 cup of baking soda which adds an additional cleaning element to the solution.
When you need to clean textured stone your best bet is to use a stone specific cleaner with a non abrasive scrub pad.
Because stone is usually more textured than tile it can more easily accumulate grease.
In fact cleaning rags and paper towels often catch and snag on the rough stone.
Wipe down the backsplash with the rag.
Use gentle dish detergent that cuts grease in a bucket of hot water.
Mix the baking soda with some water to form a paste that s thick enough to stick to the tiles.
The detergent works as a mild cleaning agent that breaks up grease and residue without causing damage to the travertine or grout on the backsplash.
Be sure to wipe down your marble backsplash tile with a soft sponge or cloth using a gentle cleanser at least once a week.
I am sure it will be perfect.
Just in case we re applied sealer three coats to the backsplash ourselves.
The scrub pad will help loosen dirt without causing any scratches to the surface of the stone or leaving fibers behind.
All that s needed to clean grease off the wall behind the stove is your favorite grease busting dishwashing liquid a sponge and an optional stiff brush.
Apply the paste in a thin 1 2 mm layer over the stained area with a brush or spatula.
First clean the area with your regular stone cleaner.
Wipe the backsplash with a microfiber cloth to remove loose dust.
Rub in a circular motion until the tiles are dry and not tacky to the touch.
Remember that an impregnating sealer will not completely waterproof your tile.
Dampen a clean microfiber cloth with warm water.
This will remove any surface dirt or dust as well as some of the top layer of the grease.
It will buy you time to remove any offending agents.

We plan to mount a 3 inch high strip of stainless steel flashing against the backsplash to divert future chicken smoke and grease from the marble.
