Clean Up Throw Up On Carpet

When dealing with how to clean throw up out of carpet you want to move quickly. To clean vomit out of carpet start by picking up as much of the vomit as you can with paper towels or a plastic bag. Then sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch on the stain to soak up as much puke as possible. Fill a spray bottle with cold water and spray down the carpeted area.

If you let the mess sit too long the vomit will set deeper into the carpet fibers and possibly even the padding underneath. Allow this to remain on the carpet for 10 minutes. You should be left with a plain fluid stain. Using a clean towel sponge the area with the towel dipped in the water and dish soap mixture.

Once that happens it can be nearly impossible to get rid of that sickly smell. Follow the steps for cleaning dried vomit from carpets by wetting it with warm water until it breaks down and can be removed. After 15 minutes run a vacuum over the area. Try to make sure that the solution completely saturates the carpet fibers.

With each blot and dab be sure to use a clean section of the towel. Then cover the remaining stain with baking soda or cornstarch and let it sit for 15 minutes which will help dry up the excess moisture. Using a towel start blotting and dabbing the vomit until the chunks and moisture are mostly gone. You may need more than one towel if the carpeted area is large.

After removing most of the vomit use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dried powder or grit. You can also try adding two tablespoons of dish soap to two cups of warm water.
