Cleaning Windows With Fine Steel Wool

Here are some of our favorites. But lesser known superfine steel wool or grade 0000 steel wool has many useful applications. When glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth alone won t cut it rid your windows mirrors vases and more of stubborn sticky residues like tree sap with a superfine steel wool pad. Everybody we ve told about this little detailing trick seemed really surprised that steel wool does not scratch glass.

Prime the surface. Steel wool for tough stains if you need to remove tree sap adhesive residue or other tenacious stains from your windows try 0000 4 ought steel wool. Laminated windshield glass is higher on the mohs scale of hardness than steel wool. Continue until the entire window is clean.

Lubricate the glass with a spritz of window cleaner windex and buff away the stains with a wad of super fine steel wool. Green scrubbing pads are made from polyester which is even softer. Therefore these scrubbing pads in theory will not scratch glass either. It sounds crazy but rubbing steel wool on your windshield won t hurt it.

Therefore steel wool in theory will not scratch glass. Rub a piece of steel wool over the glass. Start with the outside of the top pane then the inside of the top pane then the outside of the bottom pane and so on.
