After you ve vacuumed as much ash as you can out of the carpet it s time to use a clean cloth damped with water on the stained area to remove the ash residue. A white cloth should be used as certain chemicals may bleach the cloth. These dry cleaning solutions should go on a white cloth because the chemicals in the absorbent could bleach the cloth. Sprinkle baking soda cornstarch or other absorbent on the stain. The first thing to do is to remove as much ash as possible.
